Remember back in August when I ranted about my strange obsession with cropped floral pants? You don’t? Then please refresh your memory. I didn’t exactly style them the way that I outlined in that post, nor did I find street style shutterbugs following my every move, but I did get an unexpected boost of confidence from my latest purchase in the pants department. Not only are these babies inexpensive, but they also fit very well, and have editorial cred: I’ve seen them in Lucky and a couple other publications. They also contain the colors of practically ever spring/summer top I own so the possibilities are endless. Well that concludes my little ode to the H&M floral wonders, expect me in some similarly blooming pieces as the season continues. What do you think of the floral trend and how would you wear it? Feel free to discuss in the comments.

Have you ever walked into a store, looked at an item that you deemed “not me” and found yourself thinking about it excessively the next day?
Yeah, well that happened to me the other day. While at J. Crew helping my friend shop, I spotted a pair of — wait for it — flowered taffeta capris. I know what you’re thinking, “but Caroline, you haven’t swathed your lower half in flowers since last year’s Top Shop skirt, and that was much less fabric!” Yeah, I’m a minimalist in the vein of Phoebe Philo for Celine but even she caught floral fever for resort. Exhibit A:
So while I initially brushed off these pants, I couldn’t stop dreaming about them. Maybe it’s my upcoming return to New York City, my religious reading of The Man Repeller, or the fact I have yet to be spotted by a street style photog, I’ve been imagining myself walking up the Lincoln Center steps during Fashion Week in all my blooming bloomer glory.
As you know, I’m not one to pile on the prints, so instead of going full-on flora, I’d ground this look with a leather or silk tank or tee, or a slouchy sweater. I’d add my favorite pair of lace wedges and a zebra print clutch to keep it interesting and wah-lah Fashion Week here I come! Of course I can picture myself arriving Tommy Ton style, but let’s be serious, I don’t have much of a chance unless I wear a plaid top do I?
