In Verticals

I just wanted to take a break from fashion and share with you some shots from The High Line, a place I’ve been spending a lot of time in as the temperature rises. I just love the contrast of modern buildings, old train tracks, and vegetation that the park provides. Where are your favorite places to go when Spring is near?

You Can’t Fake Fashion

You can't fake fashion bags

Last night, eBay and The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) previewed their their collection of canvas tote bags, customized by over 75 CFDA designers, to raise awareness about counterfeit products.  This is the second collection of bags produced for this cause, and many of fashion’s elite turned out in support, including Teen Vogue’s Fashion News Director Jane Keltner de Valle, Fashion Designer Charlotte Ronson, and Michael Kors’s Vice President and Global Creative Director Andrea Linett.

Not only were guests able sneak a peek of these fun bags before they go on sale, but they were also able to customize their own standard totes with fun screen prints and monograms while StreetPeeper‘s Phil Oh snapped their photo. Learn more about the cause here and don’t forget to log on to fashionvault.ebay.com starting at 11amEST on March 20th to purchase the totes and support originality.

Bond Street Vintage

Coat: Forecaster of Boston (Vintage), Top: Joie, Cardigan: Club Monaco, Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Dolce Vita, Necklace and Ring: c/o: NN BY NIGH

If you’ve been by FIT lately, you would have noticed the issues of W27 with the one and only Man Repeller, Leandra Medine, gracing the cover. That cover image was taken by FIT student and photographer Armah Jones who also shot me on Bond Street in SoHo for the photo above and for W27‘s “Style On 27” page in September.

I’m wearing a herringbone coat that belonged to my mom in the 80s and a new pair of stacked heeled booties I recently snagged at Bloomingdale’s Big Brown Bag Sale. This is one of those simple outfits that incorporates all my old favorite clothes with some new obsessions. What have you been wearing lately, especially with this spring-like weather?

Dreaming of Summer with Ragged Mag

American Rag Accessories

How quickly the week has gone! Last Tuesday, in the midst of all that’s been going on, I made it down to one of my favorite SoHo venues, W.i.P, to fete the addition of “It Girl” Lenay Dunn to the Ragged Mag team and preview the latest American Rag collection.

The looks in this collection (a Macy’s exclusive) called to mind the fun, carefree dressing of the music festival crowd and the models even posed in front of banners for SXSW, Bamboozle, and Warped Tour.  Adding to the music-fueled fun was the band Holy Ghost! who hit the turn tables that night. While their melodies couldn’t be beat, I left the party a bit unsatisfied—but only because I’ll have to wait till summer to wear this amazing hat.

IFBCon 2012

Though some time has elapsed since the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference took place at Milk Studios on February 8th, the information learned here still applies to those looking to take their blog to the next level. Everything from advertising and sponsored posts, to Twitter and Facebook integration was discussed by a number of successful bloggers. Those looking to turn blogging into a full time career, or just looking to increase followers certainly found some helpful information to keep their blogs fresh and create a blogger “brand.” It was also a great opportunity for bloggers to network and trade some fashion tips before New York Fashion Week kicked off. Though I wore a muted color palate of grey and black, there was not shortage of vibrant color in the outfits of the other bloggers. Their looks certainly brightened up a cloudy day.

Additionally, attendees were treated to an preview of the J Brand Ready-to-Wear Collection. I found more than a few covetable items I would love to add to my wardrobe including the leather Baez Tee, and and thick knit Moyet Sweater. The leather jackets were fabulously soft and the entire collection had a slightly rock and roll, yet sophisticated feel that I loved. Check it out here.  Are there any pieces you are dying to own?
