Hey everyone. It’s that time of year again–finals. Please excuse the lack of posts. I have some great stuff planned, but until I crawl out of my little hole in the library, you’ll just have to look at these Instagram photos. In fact, if you really want to stay up to date with Mainstream Misfit, follow me on Instagram; my username is carolinenel. Or you could click on over to my Statigram with that handy dandy little button I set up on the sidebar. If you follow me on Twitter or Tumblr, chances are you’ve seen a couple of my Istagrams and you know that I’m addicted. The ones above are just of few of those many photos taken in and around my two favorite cities, the places I call home, and yes, you can expect to find more photos of buildings and trees in my feed–don’t judge me.

Latest Import: Cambridge Satchel Co.

If you picked up the April Issue of W27 last week, you would have surely noticed the Q&A with the founder of Cambridge Satchel Company, Julia Deane and the beautiful photo of the The Metallic bag in silver shot by our photo editor, Camilla. While she kindly snapped the shot of me above, I took a few pics of my own by the Comme de Garcons store in Chelsea. What do you think? What Cambridge Satchel line is your favorite?

In Verticals

I just wanted to take a break from fashion and share with you some shots from The High Line, a place I’ve been spending a lot of time in as the temperature rises. I just love the contrast of modern buildings, old train tracks, and vegetation that the park provides. Where are your favorite places to go when Spring is near?

Bond Street Vintage

Coat: Forecaster of Boston (Vintage), Top: Joie, Cardigan: Club Monaco, Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Dolce Vita, Necklace and Ring: c/o: NN BY NIGH

If you’ve been by FIT lately, you would have noticed the issues of W27 with the one and only Man Repeller, Leandra Medine, gracing the cover. That cover image was taken by FIT student and photographer Armah Jones who also shot me on Bond Street in SoHo for the photo above and for W27‘s “Style On 27” page in September.

I’m wearing a herringbone coat that belonged to my mom in the 80s and a new pair of stacked heeled booties I recently snagged at Bloomingdale’s Big Brown Bag Sale. This is one of those simple outfits that incorporates all my old favorite clothes with some new obsessions. What have you been wearing lately, especially with this spring-like weather?

Poleci Holiday Party

Poleci Mannequin

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t been posting much lately. It’s finals week, so while you’re more likely to read this because you’re procrastinating/pretending to study for exams, I’m less likely to write because I’m also pretending to study for exams, so I apologize. Anyway, following one of said exams, I headed over to the Poleci store in Meatpacking last Thursday for the Holiday Party hosted by bloggers Christina Caradona of Top Rouge, Lindsey Calla of Saucy Glossie, and Lauren Valenti of The Vogue Vibes who all styled looks from the collection.

I was amazed by the Fall and Spring collections, which featured all of my favorite clothing elements: silk, leather, and sequins, as well as some fantastic lace pieces, a fabulous goat fur jacket, and some lively pops of color. Add those elements to a great soundtrack provided by DJ Chelsea Leyland and some tasty munchies, and you’ve got yourself a great Holiday party. Now if only I could get my hands on one of those sequin dresses in time for New Year’s Eve. . .
