Though I’ve witnessed my fair share of fashion shows as a volunteer over the past few seasons, nothing comes close the the thrill of taking a seat at one of the biggest shows of MBFW. In this case it was Monique Lhuillier, a designer celebrated for her spectacular red-carpet gowns. I attended this show with my fellow program contributors, Taisa and Sarah, and delighted in the sparkling creations Lhuillier sent down the runway. Red and black were the dominant colors in this sexy collection, and leather and lace were present in many of the looks. Sequins in red, black, and gold also covered everything from jackets to LBDs and slinky gowns. The gowns were mostly slim cut, save for the extravagant final look, a red and nude ball gown with a tight lace bodice that morphed into a cascading ruffled skirt. My favorite look however, was a black jumpsuit with a leather belt and sheer neckline flanked by gold sequined cap sleeves.
As for me, I kept my outfit simple and streamlined with an LBD and bronze jewelry from Brooklyn based jewelry brand NN BY NGHI. I added a fun clutch to liven the look with a pop of pink.
